Procedures for our Classroom
CLASS RULES:
1. I can keep my hands to myself.
2. I can take turns.
3. I can listen.
4. I can put things away.
5. I can raise your hand.
CONSEQUENCES:
Every child starts with 5,4,3,2,1 cards. Each student starts on 5 at the beginning of each day.
If a student breaks a rule, a number is taken away. If the student stays on 5, he/she will receive a
SPECIAL AWARD. If the student is on 4, he/she will receive a verbal WARNING.
If the student is on 3, he/she will spend time in the COURTESY CHAIR. If the student is on 2, he/she will receive NO
TREATS during the day. If the student is on 1, he/she will receive a NOTE HOME and/or PHONE CALL HOME. If a child consistently receives low numbers, I will talk with the parent and we will make an individual behavior plan if necessary.
DAILY FOLDER
A daily folder goes home each day. Your child’s number will be written in the folder. I will not write a note about your child’s
behavior unless the number is a 3, 2, or 1. A number 5 and a number 4 is great behavior in the classroom. The daily folder will also contain any papers that need to go home. Please sign the folder each day.
CLASSROOM REWARD
We also have a class link chain. I add one link
for every compliment the class receives from an adult in the school building. We
receive two links at a time for a compliment from the principal! This reward
system helps the students to always use their best behavior because they do not
know who is watching and who may give us a compliment. I also add links for
excellent classroom behavior during special times (assemblies, field trips,
etc.). When the link chain reaches the floor, the WHOLE class receives a special
treat. It is an accomplishment that takes time, but it is very rewarding for the
students. Each link is proudly earned.
HOMEWORK
Homework will start the second week of school. A
folder will go home on Monday. It needs to be returned on Friday. Your child
will receive a sticker if all homework is completed AND it is returned on Friday
to school. Your child will have the same homework routine each week. Your family
can decide to follow the assignments given for each night, or choose your own
routine. Your child should not return the homework folder until
Friday.
TRANSPORTATION
Your child will be sent home following the information that you provide in writing at the beginning of the year. We MUST
have any changes to the transportation in WRITING. You can write any changes in the daily folder.
WATER BOTTLE
Children learn better when they are hydrated. I would like for each student to have a water bottle at school. We will keep them
in the refrigerator in the classroom. It will be sent back home when it is empty so you know that your child needs another water
bottle.
